Rob leads by example as a successful entrepreneur. Shortly after graduating from college, he found an opportunity to develop a new system for retirement accounts. His innovative idea captured the attention of angel investors and his venture went through multiple rounds of equity investment. After establishing the company’s foundation, he calculated the ideal time to exit—and after exiting, he went on to advise businesses and entrepreneurs who wanted a similar solid financial outcome. Today his firm Cordasco & Company delivers tax and consulting services to entrepreneurs at every stage of the business life cycle. Clients from around the world seek his customized solutions to make smart decisions that guide both their companies and their own entrepreneurial journeys.

Rob is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information Technology Professional with over 35 years of experience in public accounting. Rob began his career in 1986 with Crow, Wilkinson & Associates in Mobile, Alabama and was admitted as a full partner in 1990 at the age of 25. Rob started his career in the wake of the Tax Reform Act of 1986. This bill is the primary basis of “modern tax law”. Rob excelled in his ability to understand this landmark bill, its practical application and how to advise clients on minimizing their tax liability. This passion for tax law and its practical application is the basis in which Rob has built his career and the firm.

1986 was also a significant year for technology and the accounting industry. Personal computers were beginning to be adopted by businesses. This led the way for the migration away from manual accounting systems and mainframes. Rob played an integral role in the firms and many of his clients’ adoption of these systems. Rob developed and grew a venture funded technology spin off of the CPA firm which employed around 100 people by the late 1990s. In 1999, Rob successfully piloted an exit from the technology company and sold his interests in the CPA firm. Rob accepted a position in Atlanta as a principal in Arthur Andersen’s tax area. When Anderson collapsed, Rob became Vice President of Administration for a large mutual fund company, before deciding to return to public accounting.

In early 2007, Rob began Cordasco & Company, a boutique tax and accounting firm in Savannah. The firm provides customized tax and accounting services to small and mid-sized businesses and their owners. The firm’s services are specifically designed to help clients capitalize on the rapidly changing tax and accounting environment during each stage of the business’ lifecycle. Cordasco and his team continue to innovate customized tax solutions, technological advancements and operational efficiencies to help their clients with continued success.

Rob is a 1986 graduate of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with a minor in Computer Science and is licensed to practice in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Georgia Society of CPAs South Carolina Society of CPAs and the Alabama Society of CPAs.
